ALPINEXPRESS PASS

An opportunity to change the way you travel, save money and emissions.

What is the Alpinexpress pass

The AlpinExpress Pass is a booklet of exclusive discounts available to those who travel to resort via train. We want to protect our mountain environment, and we want to help you protect it too! But we understand taking the train is not always the cheapest or quickest option, so we want to make that choice as attractive as possible.

We’ve worked with a range of partners in our community to put together an extensive list of discounts to help you save money when you’re in resort.

We want to encourage and incentivise all visitors to our valley to reduce their emissions and help save our alpine environment. Travelling the train is a great way to take concrete action and protect our mountains.

How does it work?

Once you have booked your rail travel, you simply need to email Montagne Verte with your proof of purchase and travel information. You will then receive a personalised QR code unlocking a whole load of exclusive discounts in resort!

This code can then be scanned by any of our participating partners. With your pass you benefit from money off accommodation, ski hire, transfers, eating out and so much more. Click here for the full list of discounts.

Email bonjour@montagnevertemorzine.com with your travel details. Please include
– Proof of purchase from rail provider
– Full names of traveller/s
– Dates of travel

Why travel by train?

The average temperature in the Alps has risen by more than twice the global average, that’s over 2 degrees celsius…

The majority of your emissions from a ski holiday are from flying. So until electric short haul flights go mainstream (hopefully in the 2030’s!), the best way to enjoy a low carbon ski holiday is to make your way to the Alps by train.

Travelling by train from the UK or Paris to the Alps can reduce the ecological footprint of your journey by over 80%! Read our Train Vs Plane blog to learn more.

FAQS

  • DO I GET A DISCOUNT ON MY TRAIN TICKET?
The AlpinExpress provides discounts for those who have travelled by train. It does not entitle you to a discount on your train ticket.

  • WHERE IS THE NEAREST TRAIN STATION?
The closest train station to Morzine – Avoriaz – Les Gets is Cluses. From there you can get picked up by one of our participating transfer company partners and with your pass you will receive a discount.

  • CAN BY BUSINESS BECOME A PARTICIPATING PARTNER?
We would love to have you on board! Send an email to bonjour@montagnevertemorzine.com to sign your business up.

  • DOES IT COUNT IF TAKE THE TRAIN TO THE AIRPORT?
No. If you take a train to an airport and fly to Geneva (or any other alpine airport), you do not qualify for an AlpinExpress Pass. This initiative is to promote rail travel as an alternative, not a supplement.

Phase 2

The AlpinExpress Pass is ‘phase 1’ of this campaign which we plan to run until September 2022. The Morzine Mairie have helped fund this work through a grant of €7,500. We originally planned to charter a train, but the pandemic, and changes with SNCF have delayed this. If Montagne Verte fails to deliver on the charter (phase 2) by winter 22/23 – we will return the grant money. This will not affect our ‘AlpinExpress Pass’ campaign.
